Swimming courses are a good opportunity to learn the various swimming techniques from experienced trainers. Children should discover the joy of water sports through play. Breathing techniques and coordinated arm and leg movements are practised based on targeted exercises. The courses for young children focus predominantly on getting used to the water and increasing safety in the water. Splashing and playing in the water strengthen the body and improve motor skills. Children who are introduced to moving in water at a very early age then go on to adopt safer behaviours in the water, instinctively closing their nose and mouth and seeking out secure support much more quickly in the event of an emergency.
Children need to learn to coordinate their legs and arms correctly in order to learn to swim. For most children, this happens between the ages of 4 and 6 years old. We ask parents to be patient with their children because every child is different. Speak to our swimming coaches to decide which course is best for your child.
